Start with the basics: a safe sleeping space (crib or co-sleeper), car seat, stroller, comfortable clothes, and a few essential care items like diapers and wipes. Later, depending on your personal experience, you can add more specific items.
Pay close attention to your child’s safety, age, and weight. Always choose a car seat that meets European safety standards (ECE R44/04 or i-Size). Check beforehand that the seat fits your car properly and is easy to install.
Use a firm, breathable mattress in a safe crib or co-sleeper, free of loose blankets and toys. Also, choose an appropriate sleep sack to keep your baby warm and safe while sleeping.
Don’t buy too many items in the smallest sizes—babies grow fast. Start with around six to eight onesies and a few comfortable outfits in size 50-56. You can always add more clothes as needed later.
For breastfeeding, a breast pump, nursing pillow, and breast pads are essential. For bottle feeding, you’ll need bottles, a bottle warmer, a sterilizer, and optionally a convenient formula dispenser.
